Mumbai: Manoj Jain, a celebrated Mumbai-based artist and author, opened his latest solo exhibition, ELSEWHERE, WITHIN, featuring works in textile and painting, at Soho House in Juhu on May 16th. The exhibition was curated by Dheeya Somaiya. Since his initial success as a fiction author whose primary subject was human psychology and spirituality, this new exhibit represents the next major step in Jain’s artistic development and also signified a significant artistic change in his work. Jain’s exhibit marks his transition from merely creating written stories toward representing far deeper life truths through visual arts, thus providing a powerful way for him to continue on his journey of self-discovery, spirituality and personal development through intuition.
Jain invited viewers to undergo both personal and philosophical changes through artistic expression, through the intentionally created and emotionally connecting body of work presented in the exhibit. In addition to the expression of art and creativity, the exhibit also served to introduce Jain’s newest book, The Book of Joy, which is line with Jain’s ongoing exploration of both contemplation, personal awareness and enlightenment.
For those who attended the exhibition, they were challenged to explore Jain’s artwork not only with their eyes but with their hearts and minds, allowing them to find deeper emotional connections and greater creative expression within themselves.
