Jaipur: JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU) and Nottingham Trent University (NTU) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create international academic progression opportunities for students in design disciplines. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to global education, industry-oriented learning, and enhanced student mobility.

Under the partnership, students enrolled in JKLU’s B.Des. (Design) programme across all specializations will gain access to structured progression pathways and semester exchange opportunities at Nottingham Trent University, one of the UK’s largest and most influential universities.

The MoU empowers JKLU students to apply for 2 + 2 and 3 + 1 progression routes to pursue bachelor’s degree programme in “Product Design” or “Furniture and Product Design” at NTU. This essentially means that, subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria, JKLU students could complete 2 or 3 years of the bachelor’s degree programme at JKLU and rest of the 1 or 2 years at NTU.

Following their bachelor’s degree programme, JKLU students may also opt to leverage a 4+1 progression route under which students may apply for master’s degree programme at NTU in “Products & Furniture Design” or “Graphic Communication Design”, among other courses.

Commenting on the partnership with NTU, Dr. Vijaysekhar Chellaboina, Vice-Chancellor, JK Lakshmipat University said, “This collaboration with Nottingham Trent University reflects JKLU’s commitment to providing globally relevant education and meaningful international exposure to our students. Through these academic pathways, our design students will benefit from international learning experiences, industry-oriented pedagogy, and enhanced opportunities for global careers and higher studies.”

The collaboration also opens doors for eligible JKLU students to semester study programme at NTU. Students admitted through the partnership will also receive exclusive tuition fee concessions that are not available through regular direct applications.

The initiative is expected to significantly strengthen students’ global exposure, portfolio development, and career readiness by connecting them with international academic environments and industry-led learning practices. NTU’s strong reputation for employability and industry engagement will further enhance opportunities for JKLU students seeking global careers and higher education pathways in design and innovation.

Admission to NTU under the collaboration will be subject to academic performance, portfolio review and interview requirements where applicable, and fulfillment of English language proficiency criteria, including IELTS.

The JKLU-NTU collaboration marks an important step in advancing globally connected design education and creating meaningful international opportunities for students.
