Mumbai  – Idoru is set to host, author and founder of Panther’s Paw Publication – Yogesh Maitreya for an intimate evening of conversation around his book Ambedkar – Sonic Imagination of Casteless Utopia on 30th May 2026. Bringing together literature, music, history, and cultural discourse, the evening will explore how sound and storytelling have shaped conversations around equality and social democracy across generations.

Built around culture, community, great food, and thoughtfully crafted cocktails, Idoru has steadily evolved into a space where conversations flow as naturally as the drinks. It is designed as a relaxed setting where people can exchange ideas, unwind over music and food, and engage with diverse perspectives.

Yogesh Maitreya, a poet, writer, translator, and publisher – through his work travels across people’s utopias between Europe and India, engaging with questions of caste, memory, identity, and social imagination through literature and publishing.

His book, Ambedkar – Sonic Imagination of Casteless Utopia, traces the sonic journey of Dr. Ambedkar as a protagonist of casteless utopia through the works of fifteen singers and musicians from Maharashtra. The book examines how music became a powerful medium for carrying Ambedkarite thought, and the ideals of social democracy across communities and generations over the course of a century.

Bringing together literature, sound, history, and conversation, the evening at Idoru offers audiences an opportunity to engage with contemporary cultural discourse in an intimate and immersive setting – one designed as much for dialogue and reflection as it is for community and connection.
