New Delhi – India’s First Global Multicast News Hub – Live Times, broadcast an exclusive episode of its prime-time flagship show Point Blank, featuring senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari in a frank and wide-ranging conversation with Deepak Chaurasia, Director News, Live Times. The interview touched on major national political developments, including Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks on the NDA government’s longevity, the proposed Delimitation exercise, opposition dynamics in West Bengal, and the BJP’s leadership approach across states.
On Rahul Gandhi’s suggestion that the Narendra Modi-led government may not complete its tenure, Mr Pramod Tiwari voiced strong agreement. He said that Rahul Gandhi does not speak carelessly and remarked, “Rahul Gandhi jhooth nahin bolte. Agar unhone kaha hai ki ek saal mein Modi Sarkar nahin rahegi, to sahi kaha hoga.” He further noted that political trends across the country point to rising public disillusionment with the current ruling establishment.
Responding to questions about the Centre potentially reintroducing the Delimitation Bill, Mr Tiwari questioned its political feasibility and maintained that the proposal would encounter stiff resistance from multiple regional parties. Specifically citing the DMK, he stated that the party could never back such a measure and argued that the government would find it difficult to gather the political support required to pass the bill.
Discussing the political landscape in West Bengal, Mr Tiwari suggested that the electoral outcome there might have been different had the Trinamool Congress and Congress stayed together. He said that had the TMC contested elections in alliance with Congress and kept that partnership intact, Mamata Banerjee could have secured another term. When questioned about claims that the TMC had deliberately weakened the Congress organisation in the state, Mr Tiwari chose not to make a direct attack, noting that Mamata Banerjee had recently faced a political reversal and that he did not think it appropriate to criticise her harshly at this time.
Taking aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr Tiwari alleged that the party has become increasingly reliant on leaders who originally came from other political formations. He claimed that the BJP lacks a sufficient pipeline of leaders grown within its own cadre and organisation, forcing it to place politicians who switched from rival parties into top roles, including Chief Ministerial positions. He cited leaders such as Himanta Biswa Sarma and Suvendu Adhikari as examples while raising questions about the BJP’s internal leadership development.
Throughout the conversation, Deepak Chaurasia maintained Point Blank’s signature style of direct and fact-focused questioning. The discussion offered viewers an unfiltered look at current political developments and opposition strategy as key national and state-level contests approach.
