Mai Mai Joins the Global “Pay What You Can” Movement, Bringing a New Wave of Hospitality to Bengaluru
Mai Mai is proud to announce its participation in “A Global Day of Hospitality”, an international initiative developed by Masala y Maíz in Mexico City, inviting restaurants around the world to embrace a simple yet powerful idea: Eat What You Want. Pay What You Can.
Taking place on 26 August 2026, the initiative will see restaurants across cities and countries open their doors under a shared philosophy of accessibility, trust and community. For one day, guests at participating restaurants will be invited to enjoy the full expression of food and hospitality while contributing what they are able to pay.
As the first restaurant in Bengaluru to participate, Mai Mai joins an international network of community-led dining spaces. Alongside Americano in Mumbai , Mai Mai becomes one of the few restaurants in India to participate in this initiative. The participation further reinforces Mai Mai’s commitment to creating experiences rooted in inclusivity, connection and meaningful community engagement.
For Mai Mai, a space built around comfort food, meaningful conversations and community-led experiences, the collaboration is a natural extension of its ethos. Since its inception, the restaurant has sought to create a welcoming environment where people from all walks of life can gather over shared meals and experiences.
“Hospitality has always been about making people feel welcome. Through this initiative, we’re excited to participate in a global movement that celebrates trust, accessibility and the power of communities coming together around a shared table,” said Yash Bhatia, Founder of Mai Mai.
At Mai Mai Indiranagar, guests will be able to enjoy the full food menu under the Pay What You Can model. All beverages, however, will remain available at regular menu pricing.
For Mai Mai, participation in A Global Day of Hospitality goes beyond the payment model. It is an opportunity to celebrate the true spirit of hospitality, one rooted in trust, generosity and human connection. By joining this global movement, Mai Mai hopes to create a space where everyone feels welcome and to honour the simple yet powerful act of bringing people together around a shared table.
