Alappuzha: Ahead of the player auction for the third season of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL), Alleppey Ripples have retained star cricketer Mohammed Azharuddeen.
Azharuddeen captained Alleppey Ripples in both of the previous KCL seasons. One of Kerala’s most experienced domestic cricketers, he also led the Kerala team during the most recent Ranji Trophy season. In addition, he has represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
His leadership experience with the Kerala senior team, coupled with his outstanding contributions to Alleppey Ripples over the past two seasons, prompted the management to retain him for the KCL 2026 season. The remaining squad members will be selected through the auction scheduled to be held later this month.
“We are delighted to retain Mohammed Azharuddeen, who has delivered outstanding performances for the team over the past two seasons. His experience as captain of the Kerala team, including in the Ranji Trophy, along with his energy and leadership on the field, is a tremendous asset to the franchise. We are confident that his presence will once again add great strength to the Ripples this season,” said team owner T. S. Kaladharan.
