Over 3,000 Bengalureans Come Together for ‘5K – The Gift of Life Run’ to Promote Organ Donation Awareness
Bengaluru : In a significant step towards promoting organ donation awareness, the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), Bengaluru Chapter, with the support of Jeevasarthakathe, Government of Karnataka, organised the ‘5K – The Gift of Life Run’, facilitated by KIMS (Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences) Hospitals, Bengaluru, to commemorate National Organ Donation Day 2026.
The awareness initiative was flagged off by rising Sandalwood actor Rishvin in the presence of representatives from the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), Bengaluru Chapter, and officials from Jeevasarthakathe, Government of Karnataka.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 3,000 Bengalureans, including healthcare professionals, students, corporate employees, fitness enthusiasts, homemakers, and members of the public, all coming together to champion the cause of organ donation.
The initiative underscored the collective commitment of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), Bengaluru Chapter, Jeevasarthakathe, Government of Karnataka, and KIMS Hospitals, Bengaluru towards increasing public awareness about deceased organ donation, dispelling myths, and encouraging more individuals to pledge their organs, ultimately giving patients with end-stage organ failure a renewed chance at life.
The organisers thanked all participants, volunteers, partner organisations, and healthcare professionals for contributing to the success of the awareness run. The event reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), Bengaluru Chapter, Jeevasarthakathe, Government of Karnataka, and KIMS Hospitals, Bengaluru to fostering a stronger culture of organ donation and advancing the mission of saving more lives through timely organ transplantation.
