Justdial Limited, India’s No. 1 local search engine, has reported an increase in searches across categories associated with student accommodation, relocation, academic essentials and supplementary education. The analysis compares search volumes between July 2025–June 2026 and July 2024–June 2025.
The trend comes as the admission cycle for the 2026–27 academic session gets underway, including admissions across Delhi University. The search data indicates increased activity among students and families preparing for the transition to university life, from securing accommodation and moving belongings to arranging technology, stationery and academic support.
Accommodation recorded the strongest growth among the categories analysed. Searches for Paying Guest accommodation increased by 44% pan-India, with Pune leading at 80%. Chennai recorded a 49% rise, followed by Delhi at 47%, Mumbai at 45%, Hyderabad at 43% and Bangalore at 41%.
Demand for Hostel Services also increased by 28% nationally. Jaipur led the category with a 37% rise, followed by Chennai at 36% and Coimbatore at 35%. Delhi and Pune recorded growth of 32% and 30%, respectively, while Hyderabad and Mumbai witnessed increases of 21% and 15%.
Justdial’s data also captured higher search activity across services supporting student relocation. Searches for Courier Services grew by 20% pan-India, with Patna recording the highest increase at 52%. Delhi followed with a 42% rise, while Kolkata and Hyderabad registered growth of 32% and 24%, respectively. Kanpur, Pune and Mumbai recorded increases ranging from 18% to 21%.
Searches for Packers & Movers increased by 11% nationally. Chandigarh led the category with a 25% rise, followed by Delhi at 19% and Chennai at 15%. Jaipur, Surat, Mumbai and Bangalore recorded growth between 10% and 14%.
Alongside accommodation and relocation, searches for services associated with academic preparation also increased. Printing & Stationery Services recorded a 14% rise pan-India, led by Delhi at 21%. Kanpur, Kolkata and Hyderabad each registered an 18% increase, while Pune recorded growth of 16%.
Searches for Laptop Stores rose by 7% nationally. Delhi led the category with an 18% increase, followed by Coimbatore at 16%. Chandigarh and Hyderabad recorded growth of 9% each, while Ahmedabad and Lucknow witnessed increases of 8% and 7%, respectively.
The data also points to city-specific growth in searches for supplementary education. Coaching Institute searches increased by 81% in Vadodara and 55% in Surat. Ahmedabad recorded a 15% rise, while Patna witnessed growth of 5%.
According to Justdial, the increase across these categories shows how the start of an academic session generates search activity beyond college admissions alone. Accommodation, relocation, documentation, technology and coaching services form part of the broader preparation undertaken by students and their families ahead of university enrolment and relocation.
