Embracing Success, Accepting Failure and Finding Balance: Young Minds Inspired to Navigate the World Ahead
Kolkata : Newly admitted B.Tech students of Heritage Institute of Technology participated in an engaging interaction with Mr. Jaydeep Chitlangia, Founder Trustee, Heritage Group of Institutions and Chief Mentor, Duroply Industries Ltd., who encouraged the young minds to approach their transition to college life with curiosity, resilience and self-awareness.
Addressing the students, Mr. Chitlangia reflected on the significant transition from a secure and controlled school environment to a more open, independent and competitive world. He urged the students to embrace this phase with confidence while remaining grounded in their values.
A key theme of the interaction was the students’ approach towards success and failure. He emphasised the importance of staying humble during moments of achievement and accepting failures without fear or embarrassment. He encouraged the students to view failure not as an endpoint, but as an opportunity to learn, adapt and grow.
Speaking about the power of manifestation, Mr. Chitlangia highlighted how clarity of thought, positive intent and visualisation can influence one’s actions and direction. At the same time, he stressed that aspirations must be supported by consistent effort, discipline and action.
The interaction also addressed the rapidly evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence. Mr. Chitlangia encouraged students to embrace AI as a powerful enabler while using it responsibly and ethically. He stressed the importance of retaining human curiosity, independent thinking and creativity in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Another important aspect of the discussion was digital wellbeing. Highlighting the growing dependence on smartphones and social media, he spoke about the need for regular digital detoxification to counter distraction and stress among young people. He encouraged students to consciously create periods away from screens and digital notifications.
As a simple practice for developing greater self-awareness, Mr. Chitlangia urged the students to spend at least ten minutes every day in solitude—away from phones, screens and distractions—to pause, reflect and connect with their own thoughts.
The interaction offered the newly admitted students an opportunity to look beyond academics and reflect on the values, habits and mindset that can shape their journey through engineering and beyond.
The session concluded with an inspiring message for the students: embrace success with humility, accept failure with courage, use technology responsibly, and never lose the ability to think, reflect and discover oneself.
