Chennai: HCL Group has announced the fourth edition of HCL Cyclothon Chennai for October 11, 2026, with a total prize purse of ₹33.6 lakh. The event is being organised with the Tamil Nadu government, powered by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) and held under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI). Registrations are open and close on September 27.
The programme covers competitive and community rides: a Professional Elite Road Race (54 km), Amateur Road Race (54 km and 28 km), Amateur MTB Race (28 km) and a non-competitive Green Ride (10 km). Prize money is split as ₹15 lakh for the elite road race, ₹12.6 lakh for the amateur road race and ₹6 lakh for the amateur MTB race.
The elite race is a mass-start event for cyclists aged 18–40, with entries through the CFI. The amateur road and MTB races have age groups of 18–30, 30–40, 40–50 and 50-plus, with separate prizes for men and women. The Green Ride is open to any bicycle and is meant to draw recreational riders into the sport.
Road, hybrid, gravel and mountain bikes are allowed in the relevant categories, subject to technical specifications. Riders on bikes outside those specifications may take part but will not be eligible for prize money.
Nikhil Soni, AGM–Marketing, HCL Group, said the cyclothon gives riders at different levels a chance to compete and ride together, and that HCL wants more people to take up cycling as part of an active lifestyle.
