
New Delhi: Government has started procurement of Kharif Crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP) in full swing. So far, approval has been accorded for procurement of over 14 lakh metric tonne of pulses and oilseeds from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana and Haryana.
Additionally, procurement of paddy for Kharif Marketing Season 2020-21 has started in Haryana and Punjab since Saturday. Paddy procurement of over 3 thousand 506 metric tonne in Haryana and nearly 41 thousand 300 metric tonne in Punjab having MSP value of 84 crore 60 lakh rupees has been done from farmers.
Agriculture Ministry said the procurement of cotton will commence from tomorrow with Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) starting the purchase of FAQ grade of cotton.
Government through its Nodal Agencies has also procured over 46 metric tonne of moong having MSP value of 33 lakh rupees benefitting farmers in Tamil Nadu. Approval for procurement of Kharif Crops is also being accorded to various other States and Union Territories on receipt of their proposal for agricultural produce as per the Price Support Scheme.
