Mega CPR Training: Baby Memorial Hospital Vadakara enters Asia and India Book of Records

Kozhikode: Baby Memorial Hospital(BMH) Vadakara has achieved a historic feat on the occasion of World Heart Day. The hospital has made it to the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records by organising a mega CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training programme at Memunda Higher Secondary School.

A new record was created by scientifically training 4,007 people in CPR in a span of 12 hours. BMH achieved the feat by surpassing the previous records held by private hospitals in Nagpur and Bengaluru.

The free training programme, held from 8 am to 8 pm, saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, PTA members and the general public. Under the supervision of a 100-member expert team from Baby Memorial Hospital Vadakara, CPR training was conducted using 105 mannequins. The mega training programme was conducted in accordance with international-level rules and protocols, said Dr. S. Sagaya Raj.

Following the training programme, at the ceremony held afterwards, Mr. Nidhin Antony, Chief Operating Officer, Baby Memorial Hospital Vadakara, received the Asia Book of Records certificate, while Dr. Shameel Usman Moidu, Emergency Medicine Lead Consultant, received the India Book of Records certificate from Dr. S. Sagaya Raj.

Mr. Nidhin Antony, Chief Operating Officer, Baby Memorial Hospital Vadakara, said, “This is more than just a record for us at BMH. We are happy to be able to impact more and more communities, across schools and institutions through our relentless efforts of making life saving skills practical and accessible for common people via our flagship emergency response training programme, LifelinER. Training more than 4,000 people in a single day demonstrates what can be achieved when healthcare institutions and the community come together for a common larger cause.”

Singer Tajuddin Vadakara was the chief guest. Shyji, Chorode Grama Panchayat President, Muhammed Ali, Municipal Councillor Vadakara, Beena B, Memunda HSS Principal, Jitesh, Headmaster, Dr Sunil Prasanth, CMS, and others were present.

CPR is one of the most critical first-aid interventions that can help sustain life when a person suffers cardiac arrest. BMH officials said that the programme was organised with the aim of taking this life-saving skill to more people in the community.
