Bhopal: During pandemic times, when Union Ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior administrative officials across the country are shifting to assist the private hospital in taking care of them and oversee their treatment to defeat coronavirus, Madhya Pradesh’s senior IAS officer Sheo Shekhar Shukla and Principal Secretary set an example by admitting himself and his wife at the Bhopal’s Gandhi Medical College & Hamidia Hospital.

The Principal Secretary of Department of Culture, Tourism and Public Relations Sheo Shekhar  Shukla and his wife got themselves admitted at the state city’s biggest dedicated Covid-19 hospital, treating infected patients.

The two tested positive for coronavirus and has been admitted to the Hamidia Hospital following advice of doctors, said a senior official of the Hospital.

Yesterday, the senior IAS officer announced via Tweet that he and his wife have contacted Covid-19 and praised the medical team of the hospital.

“I am admitted with my wife in Gandhi Medical College Bhopal since last five days after testing COVID positive. We preferred Govt Medical College over private hospitals because the team of doctors here is the best and facilities are second to none. I am proud of my decision,” senior IAS officer Tweeted. @shekhar_sheo

Shekhar recovering in a government hospital have scripted State’s first biggest praised encounter with protecting frontline health workers, intensive care unit nursing staff, doctors including specialists such as intensivists, pulmonologists, parking attendants, security guards, receptionists, nurses, paramedical workers and doctors.

Obviously then, the question arises: Why nearly a dozen ministers and MLAs, including chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan did not check into government hospitals and checked into private hospitals and choose to travel to neighbouring state for private medical care ?
