NEW DELHI, India: BuzzStage is developing BuzzStage OTT, a web-based entertainment platform aimed at providing independent creators, short-film makers, production houses and event organisers with an additional route to showcase their content to digital audiences.
The initiative comes amid growing opportunities for independent content creation, alongside the challenges many emerging creators face in securing distribution, building visibility and accessing established entertainment networks. Through BuzzStage OTT, the company aims to create a space for original shows, short films, performance-based productions and other independent entertainment formats.
Rohan Sharma, Founder of BuzzStage, said the idea emerged from a desire to make digital distribution opportunities more accessible to creators who may lack the financial resources or industry connections needed to approach established OTT platforms.
“Talent exists everywhere, but access to distribution opportunities is not always equal. Many independent creators have compelling stories and original ideas but struggle to get their work in front of the right audiences because they do not have the financial backing or industry connections available to larger production houses. With BuzzStage OTT, we want to work towards creating another route for these voices to be discovered,” Sharma said.
Unlike an announcement centred solely on a new streaming service, the initiative is intended to explore the broader relationship between content distribution and audience development. BuzzStage plans to draw on its experience in branding, digital marketing and live events to explore promotional opportunities for selected content and its creators.
The proposed platform is expected to feature a range of entertainment formats, including independent films, original shows, creator-led programmes and recordings of selected live events, subject to content selection and the necessary rights and permissions.
The company also intends to explore collaborations with independent producers and content owners. Potential arrangements may include content distribution, promotional support and other commercial partnerships, depending on the nature of each project.
For creators, the availability of an additional distribution avenue could offer an opportunity to present their work beyond their existing social media audiences. For independent producers and event organisers, the platform could provide another channel through which to package and promote entertainment content.
Sharma said the broader ambition is to build an ecosystem that recognises emerging talent and encourages original storytelling, while exploring practical ways to help creators reach audiences.
BuzzStage OTT is currently being developed as a web-based platform. Further details regarding its launch, content submission process and creator participation are expected to be announced as development progresses.
