Sv By Suneet Varma Presents Kashi – A Modern Ode To The Spirit, Colour And Folklore Of The Magical City At Lakmé Fashion Week In Partnership With Fashion Design Council Of India (Fdci)
New Delhi : Suneet Varma returns to Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI with his Bridge to Luxury label SV BY SUNEET VERMA, building on its debut at LFW last year. This year, SV presents Kashi, a modern interpretation of the garments, colours, textures and visual language inspired by the timeless city of Kashi. Adding to the showcase, acclaimed actress Nitanshi Goel walked the runway as the showstopper, bringing the collection’s contemporary interpretation of Indian heritage to life. Rooted in the magical experience of the city from dawn to dusk, and culminating in the evocative spectacle of the evening aarti and its reflection in the Ganges, the collection is a celebration of Kashi as a living expression of Indian culture, heritage and craftsmanship. Kashi finds its visual identity in a rich, deeply Indian palette of reds, purples, maroons and blacks, reflecting the changing light across the Ganges and the ancient city – from the warmth of the first rays of dawn to the intensity of sunset.
The collection draws from the many visual and cultural nuances of Kashi, translating them into a modern bridge to luxury. References to the city are expressed through silhouettes, fabrics, embellishments, handwork and craftsmanship, while retaining a strong sense of Indianness across the collection.
For Suneet Varma, the collection is also an important step in developing a distinctive language for Indian-inspired ready-to-wear – one that remains deeply connected to Indian aesthetics while speaking to the contemporary woman. For Suneet he likes to carry his Indianness on his sleeve.
Suneet Varma said, “It is extremely important for us to develop a language in ready-to-wear and bridge to luxury that is still rooted in Indian aesthetics. With Kashi, we wanted to explore what dressing up could look and feel like today – taking the richness of our culture, our craftsmanship and our visual heritage, and translating it into clothes that are contemporary, effortless and relevant to the modern woman globally.”
The collection comprises ready-to-wear jackets, dhoti skirts, draped saris, tops, tunics and trousers, detailed with handwork, embroidery and tassels inspired by the everyday charm and enchanting rhythms of Kashi. Kashi by Suneet Varma will be unveiled at Lakmé Fashion Week in October 2026.
