New Delhi: Indian Railways has announced 1,265 vacancies for the post of Station Master under Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 08/2026, opening fresh career opportunities for graduate candidates across the country. The recruitment is being conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under a dedicated process, following a decision by the Railway Board to notify Station Master recruitment separately from 2026 onwards.

The online application window opened on October 27, 2026, and will remain open until 11:59 pm on November 25, 2026. Candidates can apply through the official portals rrbapply.gov.in and rrb.indianrailways.gov.in. The last date for payment of the application fee is November 27, while an application correction window has been provided from November 28 to December 7, 2026.

This is the first time Station Master posts are being filled through a standalone notification, separate from the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) recruitment. The dedicated process covers eligibility conditions, examination procedures, and zone-wise vacancy distribution in a single notification, giving aspirants clearer information about the post.

The posts carry Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with an initial basic pay of Rs 35,400 per month. Eligibility requires a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification. The age limit is 20 to 33 years as on January 1, 2027, with relaxations for reserved categories as per government rules.

Vacancies are distributed across 21 Railway Recruitment Boards and multiple railway zones. RRB Mumbai has the highest allocation with 177 posts, followed by RRB Jammu-Srinagar with 122 and RRB Chennai with 119. Other major allocations include RRB Thiruvananthapuram (114), RRB Prayagraj (112), RRB Bengaluru (102), and RRB Secunderabad (70). Category-wise, the notification lists 542 unreserved posts, 296 for Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer), 176 for Scheduled Castes, 104 for Scheduled Tribes, and 147 for Economically Weaker Sections. It also provides 133 vacancies under horizontal reservation for ex-servicemen.

Selection will involve a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by a Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), document verification, and medical examination under A-2 standards. The CBT will have negative marking. Candidates must meet the prescribed vision and medical standards for the post.

The Ministry of Railways has advised candidates to carefully review the detailed eligibility conditions, vacancy distribution, examination syllabus, and application instructions in the official notification before submitting their forms. The recruitment is part of Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to strengthen its operational workforce while providing structured career opportunities to eligible graduates.
