Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), by Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, Pune, Celebrates an Eco-Friendly Diwali with Children of Matruchhaya Orphanage
Pune : The National Service Scheme (NSS) Department of Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU) by Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, Pune, spent this Diwali with the children of Matruchhaya Orphanage. The programme, titled “Anandachi Diwali – A Festival of Love”, was planned to show that the real joy of the festival comes from caring for others and celebrating in a way that is kind to the environment.
The day was kept fully pollution-free. There were no crackers and no smoke, only the glow of lights and the happiness of being together. The DPGU team decorated the ashram with traditional akashkandils and clay diyas. The programme also had fun games, Diwali songs and a meaningful interaction in which the children learnt why a clean and pollution-free Diwali matters for people, animals, and nature.
As a gesture of care, the NSS volunteers of Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), donated essential items to the orphanage. These included wheat, rice, sugar, cooking oil, ladoos, chivda, akashkandils and clay diyas. Traditional Diwali faral was also given to every child, which added to the festive mood of the day.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Somnath P. Patil, Pro-Chancellor, Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), by Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, Pune, said, “Diwali is a festival of light, and that light grows when we share it with others. Our students have shown that a festival can be celebrated with kindness and without harming nature. At DPGU, we want our students and team to grow as responsible citizens who care for society and the environment. Seeing the children smile today was the best reward for all of us.”
The day ended with many smiles and happy moments shared between the students and the children. The event reminded everyone that the true meaning of Diwali is not in the noise of crackers or the smoke they leave behind, but in sharing, caring, and bringing light into the lives of others.
This Diwali, Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU) by Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, Pune, did not burst crackers; it lit up smiles.
