Cabinet meeting held outside Guwahati for the second time in Assam

Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet met in Banggaon, about 184 kilometres east of the state capital Dispur, on Wednesday. This was the second time that the Government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma held a cabinet meeting outside Guwahati. Talking to media after the meeting, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the tradition will continue. The next cabinet meeting will be held in Haflong in January 2022.Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “It is not just a matter of one day. We arrived here the day before the meeting and covered a district. We spent Wednesday in Bongaigaon and on our way back on Thursday we will visit another district. Where he will inspect various projects and interact with people from different sections. The Assam Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has taken several important decisions at the Conference Hall of The Deputy Commissioner of Bongaigaon.

According to the cabinet decision, Amguri MLA Pradeep Hazarika has been given cabinet status. Pradeep Hazarika will lead a committee set up to free the areas of various sessions under encroachment. The other members of the committee are MLAs Mrinal Saikia and Roopak Sharma. State Cabinet to meet at Haflong in Dima Hasao district on 5th January, 2022. The Cabinet decided to grant leave on January 6-7 (4 days) for state government employees who wish to meet their parents.Cabinet decides over 25 lakh e-tenders. The State Government will set up a Youth Commission to provide assistance to unemployed youth studying in mother tongue so that they can get jobs and get admission in medical and engineering colleges. Assam Chief Minister Sarma said a trust has been set up to support families who lost their loved ones in the Assam agitation.

A number of decisions were taken in this Cabinet, including those. The trust has been designated as a trust for the welfare of the victims of assam movement and their families. The work will be started with a fund of Rs 500 crore and the fund amount will be increased later. The State Cabinet decided to reduce the time period for obtaining land lease in towns from 20 years to 10 years. The government’s decision will provide land lease to about 30 lakh local indigenous people of Assam. The Assam Cabinet has also decided to merge the Board of Secondary Education, Assam and assam Higher Secondary Education Council.
