Anantapur: A leading player in the Indian City Gas Distribution (CGD) industry, AG&P Pratham today launched its 1st CNG station in Guntakal city at Devi Devendra filling station co-located with HPCL which also marks the 4th CNG station in Anantapur district. This CNG station will help the residents reduce dependence on traditional fuels and move towards sustainable living with savings of 30%-50%. In an endeavor to popularise CNG, AG&P Pratham organized a ‘Mega CNG Exchange Mela’ which focused on giving affordable exchange options for petrol, diesel and LPG run autos with CNG autos in Anantapur district. The exchange mela holds special interest for the auto drivers as converting to CNG can benefit the drivers up to INR 10,000 every month. AG&P Pratham has also offered direct benefits worth INR 15,000 to the auto drivers during the mela.
Working aggressively at the grassroots level to further the Government’s vision of migrating towards a gas-based economy, the company also carried out a public awareness campaign about the financial and environmental benefits of CNG. The Green Wheels CNG Rally that started from Hanuman circle, covered 5 KMs in Guntakal City, while moving through Veerappa temple circle and then RTC bus stand leading back to the starting point. The drive was conducted in collaboration with leading OEM dealerships in the area like Bajaj, Piaggio and Maruti Suzuki. The rally had participation from all segments of CNG vehicles ranging from Autos, Cars, Small & Light Commercial Vehicles to spread awareness about CNG and its benefits.
The rally was flagged off by Shri Dr. T. Rangaiah, Member of Parliament – Anantapur, Shri Y Venkatarami Reddy, Member of the Legislative Assembly – Guntakal, Mr. GA Venkatesh, Regional Head, AG&P Pratham along with other dignitaries.
On the occasion, Mr. GA Venkatesh, Regional Head, AG&P Pratham said, “The rally is a progressive step in furthering AG&P Pratham’s vision of providing accessible Compressed Natural Gas to all. In Anantapur, AG&P Pratham currently distributes around 1,300 Kgs of natural gas every day with 4 CNG stations at Syndicate Nagar, Gooty, Guntakal and Hindupur. The company is expected to launch 5 more stations at major demand centres in Anantapur district within the next 6 months. We believe that the station in the district will enable further development of the region and encourage more people to convert to CNG and adopt sustainable living practices.”

AG&P’s India-wide CGD network plans to cover more than 278,000 square kilometers area in 34 districts across five states – Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu – and will have over 1,500 CNG stations and more than 17,000 inch-km of pipelines. AG&P is presently operating CNG Stations in the following Districts: Andhra Pradesh: Anantapur, Kadapa, Chittoor and Nellore Districts; Karnataka: Kolar, Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Bagalkot, Koppal, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Vijaipura, Shivamoga and Haveri; Tamilnadu: Kanchipuram, Chengalpet, Vellore, Ranipet and Ramanathapuram; Kerala: Alappuzha, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram; Rajasthan: Jodhpur and Barmer.
With these and CNG Stations and stations setup by other City Gas Companies, critical highway routes such as Chennai-Bengaluru; Bengaluru-Mangalore, Bengaluru-Hyderabad, Bengaluru-Mysuru, Mangalore-Hyderabad, Chennai-Hyderabad, Chennai-Bengaluru-Pune-Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram-Kochi-Coimbatore-Bengaluru/Chennai etc. become CNG enabled and long-distance vehicles moving in these routes can start operating on CNG.
