The Regional Met Department has predicted that the deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Srilanka coast has moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 8 kmph during the past six hours and lies centred over the same region. It is very likely to continue to move north-northwestwards across the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Srilanka and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours.
It is very likely to continue to move across the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of the Southeast Srilanka coast towards North Tamilnadu, Puducherry and South Andhra Coasts during the next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rains have been predicted for Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram districts on the 29th and 30th. Cyclonic Storm warning signal No.4 is hoisted at Chennai, Cuddalore and Nagapattinam ports. Signal No.3 has been hoisted at Thoothukudi, Pamban, Nagapattinam and Karaikal ports. In Ennore, Kattupalli and Puducherry ports, signal No. 1 is hoisted.
