Bangalore: Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Bengaluru Established in 1966, the Indian Institute of Packaging is the apex national body for packaging education, research, testing, and certification. Headquartered in Mumbai, IIP operates regional centres in Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Lucknow, and now Bengaluru. Over the decades, IIP has played a pivotal role in advancing packaging standards, fostering sustainable and scientific packaging practices, and driving India’s emergence as a global hub for packaging excellence and innovation.
The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), Government of India, is pleased to announce the inauguration of its Bengaluru Centre on 31st October 2025. The new, state-of-the-art facility is inaugurated virtually by the Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal Ji, marking a major milestone in strengthening India’s packaging education, research, and innovation ecosystem in the southern region.

Kantappa, President, Dobbaspet Industries Association, K N Narasimhamurthy, Director; FKCCI, Dr Seetharamu G K, Director, COEFPO graced the occasion. The Officials from ISRO Telemetry Tracking & Command Network (ISTRAC), Scientists from ICAR, MSME officials, industry representatives, alumni, students and officials of the institute witnessed the historical moment.
Packaging plays a pivotal role for the emerging economy of the country. The packaging industry in India has emerged as one of the fastest-growing sectors, driven by the rapid expansion of manufacturing, retail, e-commerce, and export activities. Valued at over USD 75 billion in 2024, the Indian packaging market is projected to exceed USD 125 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of around 8–10%. This growth underscores the industry’s pivotal role in enabling product safety, shelf-life enhancement, branding, and sustainability.
