University of Leeds announces International Excellence Scholarship for Indian Students

The University of Leeds (UoL) is pleased to announce the International Excellence Scholarship for 2026, designed to attract and support exceptional students from across the globe. Offering substantial financial assistance to outstanding international applicants pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies, the award reflects the University’s commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and global engagement. As a merit-based scholarship, it recognises and rewards remarkable academic performance. Eligible candidates will demonstrate a strong academic track record, leadership potential, and a commitment to contributing to the vibrant and inclusive community at UoL.

These merit-based scholarships are designed to attract outstanding students, encouraging them to pursue their postgraduate studies at UoL while benefiting from significant financial support. This initiative reflects the University’s commitment to fostering global talent and enhancing academic diversity on campus.

Eligibility: To apply for the International Excellence Scholarship, a candidate must:

•             Be classified as international fee-paying students.

•             Hold a conditional or unconditional offer for a Master’s degree (including MRes) starting in September 2026.

•             Demonstrate strong academic performance, with emphasis on prior academic achievement and potential to contribute to their chosen field.

•             The Leeds MBA and online courses are not eligible for this scholarship.

•             Scholarships are competitive and awarded on the basis of merit.

Application Deadline:

•             Application Round One: Apply by 5 pm GMT on 27 February 2026. Candidates will be notified of the outcome by 27 March 2026.

•             Application Round Two: Apply by 4 pm GMT on 15 May 2026. Candidates will be notified of the outcome by 12 June 2026.

Number of Awards: 500. These awards are worth either worth either £3,000, £6,000 or £16,000 available to support eligible international students.

How to Apply: Once the candidates have applied for the master’s course, they will need to complete the scholarship application form online.
