14 Days Judicial Custody for AAP MP Sanjay Singh

New Delhi: A  Delhi court has sent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh to 14 days of judicial custody in the money laundering case in relation with the Delhi excise policy.

In this case, the special judge MK Nagpal had remanded Singh to judicial custody after his police custody tenure had ended. He moved the Delhi High Court to challenge his arrest and remand by the ED. He is also a Member of Parliament of the Rajya Sabha and was arrested by the Enforcement  Directorate ( ED) on 4 October after a search was conducted at his house. He was remanded to a ED custody from 5th to 10th October. The court then extended his remand.

The ED had alleged that he had played a key role in framing a now- scrapping Delhi liquor policy that was aimed at benefiting the liquor manufactures, wholesaler and retailers.

Vijay Nair, who hears the communications was arrested in September last year and later Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi was arrested.

The Court had allowed businessmen Dinesh Arora and Raghav Magunta Reddy to become approvers in this case and that they have been accused.

Arora told ED that he had met Singh who in turn had introduced him to Manish Sisodia. Arora was then quoted saying that he had spoken to many restaurant owners to collect cheques amounting to Rupees 82 lakhs, which were handed over to Sisodia for the collection of party funds.
