In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Two Terrorists have been gunned down by security forces in an exchange of fire that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Bandzoo area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district this morning.
According to police, a joint team of Pulwama Police, Army’s 55 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation based on a specific intelligence input about the presence of terrorists in Bandzoo area. A Senior Police Officer said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them which was effectively retaliated triggering an encounter that resulted into the elimination of two terrorists. One CRPF personnel was also martyred in the said operation. Two AK 47 Rifles have been recovered from the encounter site. The identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained.
This was the 11th encounter in South Kashmir in the current month in which 34 terrorists have been killed so far.
Earlier, terrorists had hurled a hand grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Camp in Batagund village in Tral area of Pulwama district at around 8.30 pm last evening. However, there were no reports of any loss of life or injury to anyone in the incident.
Meanwhile, security forces busted a Terrorist Hideout at Harwan in the outskirts of Srinagar city. Large quantities of Arms and Ammunition were recovered from the hideout.
