New Delhi: Ms Renuka Gera currently Executive Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been elevated as a member of the Board of Directors of the Company. With her induction to the Board, the prestigious Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking has got its first lady Director. Ms Gera will be Director (Industrial System & Products) of BHEL.
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved her proposal sent by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
Ms Gera was selected out of a total eight candidates interviewed by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) at a selection meeting held on July 16, 2020.
She is also said to be the first lady Executive Director in the same organization she served as General Manager, Transmission Business Group.
Ms Gera is an alumna of Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi College of Engineering) and joined BHEL as Engineer Trainee in 1984,
She will succeed Mr Balakrishnan retiring in November this year.
