In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, three terrorists were gunned down by security forces in a gunfight in Astan Mohalla, Kangan area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district this morning.
Public Relations Officer, Defence Srinagar Col. Rajesh Kalia said that the three terrorists eliminated belonged to the Jaish-e-Mohamad (JeM) outfit. He said that a joint team of Police, RR and CRPF launched a Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Astan Mohalla after getting specific input about the presence of terrorists there.
Defence Spokesperson said that as the joint team approached the suspected spot, the terrorists were asked to surrender but they opened fired upon the security forces. Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter.
