4-day Commanders’ Conference of Indian Army to begin in New Delhi today

New Delhi: A 4-day Commanders’ Conference of Indian Army will begin today in New Delhi. Army Chief Gen MM Naravane will chair the apex level biannual event that formulates important policy decisions through a collegiate system of deliberation. It will be attended by all Army Commanders, Principal Staff Officers of the Army headquarters and other senior officers.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh and IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria are expected to address the conference tomorrow. Army Commanders are likely to carry out a comprehensive review of the security challenges facing the nation including the situation in eastern Ladakh and other sensitive areas.

Army commanders will also attempt to finalise various reform measures like cutting down on ceremonial practices and non-military activities to ensure a rational distribution of resources. The agenda of the conference also included a briefing by the Director-General of Border Roads Organisation on the various infrastructure development projects being undertaken by the BRO and allied formations.
