New Delhi : An 85-member group travelled to Bhutan on an eight-day tour organised under the aegis of Freedom from Diabetes (FFD), aimed at creating awareness about the role of yoga and lifestyle practices in diabetes management.

Freedom from Diabetes is an NGO founded by Pune based Mr Pramod Tripathi, who has worked extensively to promote a lifestyle-based approach to diabetes management. Through its programmes, FFD has helped many people make significant lifestyle changes and, under professional guidance, reduce their dependence on diabetes medication. The organisation focuses on nutrition, exercise, yoga, mindfulness and other sustainable lifestyle practices.

The tour was convened by Shishir Sharma, Mr Anur Jain and Ms Sapna Rupesh, who coordinated the group and played an important role in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.

The initiative was organised in the context of International Yoga Day, which highlights the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental and spiritual well-being. FFD recognises yoga as an important component of a holistic approach to diabetes management and encourages its practice alongside appropriate nutrition, physical activity and other healthy lifestyle habits.

Bhutan provided an ideal backdrop for the initiative, with its serene surroundings, distinctive culture and emphasis on happiness. The group travelled through Phuentsholing, Paro, Thimphu and Punakha, experiencing the country’s scenic beauty, cultural heritage and local traditions.

The eight-day programme brought participants together through shared travel experiences, group activities and cultural interactions. The organisers also ensured comfortable accommodation, well-planned sightseeing and travel arrangements, with food options catering to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences.

The initiative reflects Freedom from Diabetes’ commitment to raising awareness about diabetes prevention and management and encouraging people to incorporate sustainable lifestyle practices into their daily lives.

The Bhutan tour ultimately became a memorable experience for all 85 participants—combining the beauty of Bhutan with meaningful conversations around yoga, diabetes management and the importance of making positive lifestyle choices.
