GUWAHATI : On behalf of Prime Minister Modi, Intelligence Bureau Director Arvind Kumar and IB Special Director Akshay Kumar Mishra were tasked to bring Naga peace talks back on track. Intelligence Bureau has just started talks with various organizations for Naga compromise Note that under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Intelligence Bureau Director Arvind Kumar has started talking with Naga organizations. After that the Naga separatist organization NSCN (IM) has given up the demand for separate flags and constitution for Nagaland. Instead, he is adamant on demanding an additional seat of the Legislative Council and Lok Sabha in Nagaland. Intelligence Bureau director Arvind Kumar said today that the NSCN (IM) has also been refused. They have been told that this is not possible due to the low population of the state and the existing constitutional provisions.he NSCN (IM) separatist leaders, who have long insisted on the demand for separate flags and the constitution, have hinted to leave it, according to sources in the highly placed Intelligence Bureau, which is monitoring the talks with separatist Naga leaders. They are demanding a separate Legislative Council for Nagaland and an additional seat for the Lok Sabha. Nagaland has only Legislative Assembly and one seat of Lok Sabha. Intelligence Bureau officials said the Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials, who are negotiating with the NSCN (IM) on behalf of the central government, have expressed their inability to provide additional Lok Sabha seats and the Legislative Council. According to him, Legislative Council cannot be given in Nagaland having population of about 20 lakhs. If this was done, a similar demand could arise from other states in the Northeast. At the same time, Parliament has banned the increase in the number of Lok Sabha seats in the country. If Nagaland is given additional seats, other states of the country may demand to increase the seats in the same proportion of the population. In such a situation, it is not possible for the government to accept both these demands. When asked about the real motive behind seeking the seat of Legislative Council and additional Lok Sabha seats, a highly placed source said that in the last few years, NSCN (IM) in Nagaland There has been a great decline in popularity and other organizations there have started raising their voice against the special patronage it is getting. In fact, since the 1997 ceasefire agreement, NSCN (IM) cadres had established command centers in every district. These command centers used to forcibly levy and their share in every government contract is fixed. Security forces were not taking any action against them in view of the ceasefire agreement and peace talks.Meanwhile, Nagaland Governor and Chief Negotiator RN Ravi, on behalf of the Center, wrote a letter to the Chief Minister asking for complete ban on extortion and action against such people. Apparently after this, the NSCN (IM) erupted and started talks with the central government directly demanding the removal of RN Ravi from the interlocutor, but due to the weak grip at the ground level, the NSCN (IM) had to give its voice No more strength as before.
