Mumbai : Artificial intelligence is moving from experimentation to real-world deployment. Enterprises now need systems that can act, reason, and make decisions using context. Agentic AI and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) are driving this shift. According to Deloitte’s State of GenAI Report 2025, nearly 80% of organisations are exploring Agentic AI to automate complex workflows. The global RAG market is also expected to grow more than 20x and cross $40 billion by 2035. At the same time, professionals with RAG engineering skills are seeing salary increases of up to 50%, showing strong demand for production-ready AI talent.

To address this need, IITM Pravartak, the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Madras, has partnered with Emeritus to launch the Advanced Certificate Programme in Agentic AI and RAG Engineering. This is a seven-month, engineering-first programme designed to help professionals build, deploy, and scale enterprise-grade AI systems. The focus is on moving beyond prompt-based use cases to real production environments.

The programme stands out by combining two critical areas of modern AI. Participants will learn to design autonomous AI agents that can plan, reason, and execute tasks. They will also build advanced RAG systems that connect AI models with enterprise knowledge. The curriculum covers deployment, system orchestration, evaluation, and governance, ensuring learners can build AI systems that work reliably in real-world settings.

The learning approach is hands-on and practical. Participants will complete over 20 assignments and projects based on real industry use cases. They will work with more than 15 modern tools and frameworks used in AI engineering daily in enterprises. The programme ends with a capstone project where learners will build and deploy a complete multi-agent AI system. On completion, participants will receive a certificate from IITM Pravartak along with three IBM certifications in RAG, LangChain, and AI agent development.

Speaking on the launch, a senior faculty member from IITM Pravartak said, “The future of AI lies in systems that can reason, collaborate, and act independently. This programme focuses on building the engineering skills needed to create such systems.”

An Emeritus spokesperson added, “We are seeing a shift from experimental AI to systems that deliver real business value. This programme helps professionals build the skills needed to work on agentic and enterprise AI systems.”

The programme is designed for AI and ML engineers, developers, data professionals, and mid-career technology leaders. It is also suitable for professionals looking to move into AI engineering roles. The format includes live online weekend sessions, expert-led teaching, and an optional campus immersion at IIT Madras Research Park, allowing professionals to learn without pausing their careers.
