New Delhi : FIIB New Delhi will host the Responsible Editorship Conference 2026: From Ranking to Relevance on 19 June 2026 at its campus in the national capital. Believed to be India’s first conference dedicated exclusively to the theme of responsible editorship, the event will bring together journal editors, academic scholars, research leaders, doctoral researchers, and members of the publishing community to discuss the evolving role of scholarly journals in shaping research cultures.

Organized by FIIB Business Review, the institute’s peer-reviewed management journal published by SAGE Publications since 2011, the conference comes at a time when journal rankings are playing an increasingly influential role in determining research priorities, academic careers, funding opportunities, and institutional reputation.

Over the past decade, India’s research ecosystem has witnessed significant growth, with increasing international visibility of journals, rapid expansion of doctoral programs, and greater institutional investment in research excellence. At the same time, the growing influence of global ranking systems has raised important questions about what research gets pursued, which methodologies gain prominence, and how academic success is defined.

The Responsible Editorship Conference 2026 seeks to create a platform for thoughtful dialogue around these questions, encouraging conversations that move beyond rankings to examine the broader responsibilities of scholarly publishing.

FIIB Business Review has itself experienced a remarkable growth trajectory. The journal is currently indexed as a Scopus Q1 journal with a CiteScore of 10.7 and is ranked #26 among 208 journals globally in the Business, Management & Accounting (Miscellaneous) category. In the 2025 ABDC Quality Journal List update, the journal was elevated from Category C to Category B, reflecting its growing scholarly visibility and impact.

Commenting on the initiative, Prof. Sudhir Rana, Editor-in-Chief, FIIB Business Review, and a researcher featured among Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists, said:

“While recognitions such as the recent ABDC upgrade are important milestones, our engagement with questions of responsible scholarship and editorial leadership has been integral to the journal’s journey since its inception in 2011. This conference is not a celebration of rankings. Rather, it is an invitation to reflect on what such recognitions demand from journals and editors, particularly in shaping research cultures, scholarly norms, and the broader academic ecosystem.”

The conference will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities designed to foster meaningful exchanges among editors, researchers, and academic leaders. Discussions will explore the responsibilities that accompany scholarly recognition, the future of editorial leadership, and the role of journals as stewards of research quality, integrity, and relevance.

With participation expected from editors, scholars, and research leaders from institutions across India, the conference aims to position scholarly publishing not merely as a mechanism for academic evaluation, but as a catalyst for responsible knowledge creation and dissemination.
