HRV Pharma Invests ₹150 Crore to Expand Peptide and High-Potent API Capabilities

HRV Pharma, a global asset-light pharmaceutical platform, today announced strategic investments to expand its capabilities across two high-value and supply-constrained pharmaceutical segments, synthetic peptides and high-potency oncology APIs. These initiatives are designed to strengthen HRV’s portfolio of complex molecules, accelerate access to regulated markets, and create dedicated supply capabilities while continuing to operate through its asset-light business model.

As part of this strategic expansion, HRV Pharma is undertaking the following initiatives –

Dedicated Custom Peptide Capacity programme – HRV Pharma is investing as part of a combined ₹40 to ₹50 crore programme to establish dedicated cGMP peptide manufacturing capacity through a strategic capacity underwriting arrangement. The initiative will focus on commercial-stage and new-to-generic synthetic peptides across multiple therapeutic areas, with HRV retaining ownership of regulatory assets, product IP, and global commercialisation rights. The capacities are currently scaling rapidly and are expected to be ready in the next 6-8 months, giving HRV Pharma the opportunity to address a totally addressable market of more than $ 2 Bn.

High-potency oncology API and niche drug platform – HRV Pharma is establishing a strategic joint venture with a focus on high-potency oncology APIs and specialised molecules, with an investment commitment of approximately ₹100 crore. The platform will create specialised capabilities for developing and commercialising high-potent APIs, initially focusing on oncology and niche therapeutic segments where supply capabilities remain highly specialised.

Over the last seven years, HRV Pharma has built a differentiated virtual pharma platform by combining regulatory ownership, global customer relationships, and a unique network of certified cGMP approved manufacturing partners. The company’s latest investments represent the next phase of this model, moving from orchestrating available manufacturing capacity to underwriting specialised capacity in areas where India currently has limited regulated-market capabilities. HRV’s approach focuses on controlling key value drivers, including product selection, regulatory filings, intellectual property, and global commercialisation, while partnering with experienced operators for manufacturing.

The peptide capacity initiative will support the development and commercialisation of commercial-stage and new-to-generic synthetic peptides across regulated markets including the US, Europe, and other global regions. The peptide segment represents a significant opportunity due to increasing global demand for synthetic peptide APIs and the limited availability of validated, regulated-market manufacturing capacity.

In parallel, the high-potency oncology API platform will enable HRV to expand into one of the fastest-growing and most technically complex areas of pharmaceutical manufacturing. The platform is expected to develop 20–30 oncology and high-potent APIs in phases, beginning with R&D capabilities and regulatory filings, followed by dedicated commercial-scale capabilities.

Speaking on the strategic investments, Mr. Hari Kiran Chereddi, Founder, Managing Director & CEO, HRV Pharma, said, “The pharmaceutical industry is evolving towards models where regulatory ownership, specialised capabilities, and market access are becoming increasingly important drivers of value creation. At HRV, our focus has always been on identifying areas where the industry requires specialised capabilities and building scalable solutions around them. These investments of approximately ₹150 crore represent the next step in our journey, securing access to critical capacities in areas such as peptides and high-potent APIs, while continuing to maintain the flexibility and capital efficiency of our asset-light model.”

These initiatives reinforce HRV’s strategy of moving into segments where complexity, regulatory expertise, and specialised capabilities create stronger competitive differentiation compared with conventional commodity API markets. By combining dedicated capacity access with HRV’s regulatory expertise, global customer network, and commercial capabilities, the company aims to accelerate further the development and supply of complex pharmaceutical products across international markets.
