From the Tandoor to the Table: A Mughal-Inspired Feast Lands at Portico, The Sayaji Hotel, Pune

This September, Portico at Sayaji Hotel, Pune brings together the stars of Indian cuisine for its Kebab, Biryani & Curry Food Festival, a week-long celebration running from Sept 26 to October 11, 2026.

Inspired by the grandeur of the Mughal era, the festival is an invitation to settle in for a feast where smoky kebabs, fragrant biryanis and richly spiced curries take centre stage. Bringing together the bold flavours and time-honoured techniques of Indian cooking, the spread is designed for those who enjoy their meals generous, aromatic and unapologetically indulgent.

The feast begins at the grill, with favourites such as Lucknowi Galouti Kebab, Mutton Seekh Kebab, Hara Bhara Kebab and Paneer Tikka. From the melt-in-the-mouth texture of the Galouti to the smoky char of the tandoor, each preparation captures a different expression of India’s celebrated kebab culture.

No Indian feast would be complete without biryani, and the festival takes diners on a fragrant journey with Hyderabadi Dum Biryani in Chicken and Mutton, Kaju Paneer Biryani and Tandoori Chicken Biryani. Layered with aromatic spices and rich flavours, the selection brings together both classic and indulgent interpretations of the beloved rice dish.

Complementing the kebabs and biryanis is a selection of rich Indian curries, adding warmth, depth and plenty of opportunity to pair every bite with breads and accompaniments. The experience is further elevated by a Mughal-inspired ambience, bringing a touch of old-world grandeur to the dining room.

More than just a buffet, the festival celebrates the joy of an Indian feast — abundant food, bold flavours and dishes made to be shared. Whether you arrive craving a smoky kebab, a fragrant biryani or a comforting curry, Portico promises a week where there is always one more dish worth trying.
