When Freshers Lit Up the Campus: Nascent 2026 Turns Heritage Institute of Technology into a Festival of Lights

Kolkata: What happens when hundreds of first-year students, a festival season in full glow, and two days of pure energy meet on one campus? Heritage Institute of Technology found out on 30th and 31st October, when it hosted Nascent 2026, its freshers’ welcome fest.

The word nascent means “just coming into being.” The fest lived up to the name. Students who arrived as newcomers left as members of a community.

With Diwali only days away, the festive spirit was everywhere. Nascent became a celebration of new beginnings, the same idea that Diwali carries: a light switched on, a door opened, a new chapter begun. For the Class of 2030, the first light of their college journey was lit on this campus.
