Mangaldai : State Minister for Industry and Commerce Transport Chandra Mohan Patowary is quite hopeful of necessary revival and regular functioning of the Prag Bosimi Synthetics Limited (PBSL) located at Bijulibari village under Sipajhar LAC in Darrang district. He has assured to do the needful for proper revival of the first polyester filament yarn manufacturing industry of the North East.
He was talking to media following his visit to the twenty eight years old textile unit on Friday . However he didn’t mention anything clearly about his decision. ‘ I want to assure you that the government will do good for its future . But I can’t say everything right now. Give me some time for it.’ Minister Patowary said .He also enquired about the progress of the ongoing work for the centrally sponsored Rs 40 crore textile park close to the industrial unit and expressed his dissatisfaction over the snail pace of progress. ‘
The central government is yet to release the necessary fund for the park since the progress of work is not as expected. Till date government has released an amount of Rs 12 crore while its co partner Hemanta Byas has invested Rs 3 crore in the Rs 40 crore project.’ Minister stated. Later he also visited a proposed industrial site at village Badiasisha of the LAC and site for proposed Skill University at Gerimari village Mangaldai.
Minister was accompanied by Sipajhar Legislator Binanda Kumar Saikia Commissioner and Secretary of the Industry Department K K Dwibedi and senior officials of the AIDC. It may well be mentioned here that since the launch of the industrial unit with an annual production capacity of 25,000 tonnes and staff strength of around three hundred , it remained defunct for altogether more than seven years in five different phases of time due to various socio economic factors including alleged apathy of the government and mismanagement.
