Police file chargesheet against three accused in Abhiyakuti minors rape- murder case

Kokrajhar: Kokrajhar Police on Monday  filed an 850-page charge-sheet against the three main accused in the June 11 Abhiyakuti rape and murder case of two minor indigenous tribal girls.

The charges levelled include various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Briefing mediapersons at Kokrajhar SP office today, Special ADGP and BTR IGP incharge L R Bishnoi said after 12 weeks of registering the case, an 850-page charge-sheet against the three main accused have been filed at CJM Special POSCO Court today.  He said the case will be tried by a fast-track court. The senior police officer said they will ensure successful prosecution of the case and the guilty involved are punished as per law.

The 850-page report names Forizul Rahman (22) of Salbari, Nasibul Ali (19) of Salbari and Myzammel Seikh (20) also of Salbari village in Kokrajhar district as the prime accused.

Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Prateek Thube said there is sufficient evidence against the three main accused.

The accused have been charged under sections 376, 376(A), 376(D), 376(D/A) of the IPC and Sec 6 of POCSO Act 2012, Sec 3 (1)(W) of SC/SC Act.. All the accused are currently in judicial custody.

The two minors, aged 13 and 15, were found hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances at Abhiyakuthi village in Kokrajhar district on 11 June last. According to police the two were gang-raped and murdered.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma who had visited the family members of the victims had directed the police to conduct a speedy investigation and file its charge sheet.
