Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that we are making electricity from solar energy. It is necessary to connect this campaign of solar energy with the masses. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that it is necessary to make solar energy the focus of self-reliant Madhya Pradesh. Solar energy is also essential for environmental protection. Therefore, progress should be reviewed every month by making a roadmap for solar energy expansion. In the energy literacy campaign in the state, people will also be motivated to conserve energy through awareness, information communication and demonstration of practical ways to save energy. The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was reviewing the New and Renewable Energy Department from the residence. Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Energy Shri Sanjay Dubey, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Manoj Govil and other officers were present.

Need to encourage Kusum scheme

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan reviewed the Kusum Yojana. The scheme has three components, which include provisions related to installation of solar projects up to two MW by farmers, farmer groups, cooperative societies and panchayats, installation of stand-alone/off grid solar agriculture pumps in place of diesel pumps and solar energization of individual grid connected pumps or entire agriculture feeder. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan explained the need to encourage Kusum Yojana. He said that information regarding setting up of solar projects up to two MW should be ensured to reach the people.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that competition to save electricity will have to be created among the people of the state. Rewards should be arranged for saving more electricity. There should be separate rewards for individual and institutional efforts to save electricity. It was decided in the meeting that online training would be made available through mobile apps and web portals to save electricity in energy literacy campaign. On completion of training, certificates related to energy literacy will be provided to the concerned. In this campaign, all the people of the state will be connected sequentially. In rural areas, activities will be conducted through Jan Abhiyan Parishad.

Using electricity unnecessarily is like burning your money

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that energy literacy campaign should be conducted intensively to save and utilize energy. In this it is necessary to motivate the farmers to use energy efficient pumps. Citizens have to develop an understanding that using unnecessary electricity is tantamount to burning one’s own money. With this people will imbibe the practice of saving electricity.

The courses will include modules on saving electricity

It was informed in the meeting that AID campaign would be implemented in the energy literacy campaign. Awareness, information and demonstration will be the main components of this campaign. Modules of 15 minutes on saving electricity will also be included in the curriculum of schools and colleges. Training material and toolkit will be provided to the students to make them understand the importance of electricity and its economical use and the ill-effects of wastage of electricity through experiments. Sanchi city will be made a solar city in the energy literacy campaign. All Panchayat buildings and Anganwadi buildings in Sidhi district will be energized with solar energy.
