TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee’s visit: Suspicious bag found at Agartala airport

Agartala: A suspicious bag was found at Mahajara Veer Vikram Airport in Agartala, Tripura. It is said that there may be a bomb in this bag. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee’s visit to Tripura created panic when a suspicious bag was found at Maharaja Veer Vikram Airport in Agartala. The bag was found some distance from the TMC leader’s convoy. He was scheduled to arrive in Agartala to address a rally, though his rally was postponed. The developments, which took place just before the body elections, have sparked a political debate in Tripura on the one hand.

Meanwhile, police have cordoned off the entire area fearing any incident and the premises have been evacuated. Police said the bag is under investigation. After receiving the suspicious bag, there has once again been a heated exchange between the TMC and BJP leaders. Meanwhile, the BJP has ruled out any involvement in the suspicious bag found at Agartala airport. On the other hand, Abhishek Banerjee attacked the BJP saying bjp leaders want to destroy their constitutional right.  Meanwhile, a statement has been issued by tripura police.

Police said no BJP and TMC leaders are allowed to hold a rally or roadshow in Agartala on Monday. Police said only the two party leaders have been allowed to hold the meeting. On the other hand, the trinamool Congress leader’s house in Tripura was attacked by some people today. The residence of Subal Bhowmik, head of the steering committee of the TMC’s state unit, has reportedly been attacked in Bhagwan Thakur Chaumuni area of Agartala. Several people were reportedly injured in the incident. Police and Tripura State Rifles personnel have been deployed at the spot.
