Gram Panchayats in Kargil organising Plastic Waste Management programmes under Swachta Hi Seva Abhiyan

In view of the ongoing Swachta Hi Seva Abhiyan, various programmes focusing on Plastic Waste Management are going on in various Gram Panchayats in Kargil district of Ladakh. 

In this connection, a programme was organized in Gram Panchayat Trespone B, during which all the Panch along with the people of 11 Halqas participated and collected a large amount of plastic waste. On this occasion, the Officer In-Charge of Child Development Project Office Tai Suru Parveen Akhtar gave a brief demonstration on Plastic Waste Management and ways to dispose of plastic waste. She also gave a detailed presentation on the hazards of Plastic if it was not managed and decomposed properly.

Ms Akhtar requested the people to stop using one-time plastic and start using eco-friendly bags and urged the self-help groups to make eco-friendly bags which will not only help in keeping the environment clean and safe but will also become a source of income to unemployed youths. 

Sarpanch of the area requested the people to take pledge to stop using plastics which not only pollutes the environment but also effects the health of the children.
