Hyderabad : The Rotary Club of One Hyderabad (RC1H), a new Rotary club committed to community service, collaborative leadership and public health, will be formally launched at its Charter Presentation ceremony on Friday, October 16, 2026, in Hyderabad.

The new club will mark a significant milestone in Rotary’s philanthropic journey by becoming the world’s second 100% Paul Harris Society (PHS) Club on its Charter Day, following the Rotary Club of Lake District (RCLD). This distinction reflects the collective philanthropic commitment of its members to supporting The Rotary Foundation and its humanitarian initiatives.

A 100% Paul Harris Society Club is one in which every eligible member commits to contributing at least US$1,000 annually to The Rotary Foundation. The recognition underscores a shared commitment to humanitarian service and initiatives that improve lives through health, education, disease prevention, access to clean water and sanitation, and peacebuilding.

Identifying Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) as its principal focus for the first two years, RC1H aims to contribute to improved public health and community well-being. Its approach recognises that access to safe sanitation, clean water and good hygiene practices can prevent disease and protect lives, making sanitation a critical public health intervention.

The Charter Presentation will be followed by a panel discussion on “Sanitation: A Super Vaccine”, bringing together senior government officials, development-sector representatives and industry leaders to deliberate on the role of sanitation in disease prevention, public health and sustainable urban development.

The discussion will be moderated by Prof. V. Srinivas Chary, former Director of the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and Advisor to T-Works, Dasra and the Gates Foundation, along with Mr. Abhishek Nath, Founder of LooCafe and Reflow.

The distinguished panel will include Mr. Navin Mittal, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Government of Telangana; Dr. T. K. Sridevi, IAS, Secretary, Municipal Administration Department and Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA); Dr. Zelalem Birhanu Tafesse, Chief of Field Office, UNICEF India; Mr. Rohit Chandragiri, FCDO British Deputy High Commission; Mr. Vivek Pandey, WASH Professional and Consultant, Bill Gates Foundation; Col. Uday Pilani, District Governor, Rotary District 3150.The discussion is expected to explore how effective sanitation systems, behavioural change, institutional collaboration and innovative solutions can strengthen public health outcomes, particularly in rapidly urbanising communities.
