Bengaluru : Aahwahan Foundation has announced the establishment of a new dialysis unit at Vanivilas Hospital, a government hospital in Bangalore, in partnership with Aptiv Components India Pvt. Ltd. This 19th model dialysis unit by Aahwahan Foundation aims to provide affordable and accessible renal care to underprivileged patients, particularly those from economically weaker sections who face challenges in accessing life-saving treatment. The initiative enhances hospital capacity, addressing a critical healthcare need in the region. The dialysis unit is designed to serve thousands of patients annually, providing high-quality, affordable treatment for chronic kidney disease. With modern equipment and patient-centric design, the facility ensures efficiency and accessibility, enabling Vanivilas Hospital to expand its reach while reducing the financial burden on vulnerable populations. Aahwahan Foundation’s model dialysis units combine long-term sustainability with quality care, ensuring that interventions deliver measurable impact.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Braja Kishore Pradhan, CEO & Founder of Aahwahan Foundation, said, “Every patient deserves a chance at life, regardless of their financial background. Many families struggle silently, unable to afford life-saving dialysis, and our aim is to reach them before it’s too late. With each dialysis unit we establish, we hope to bring not just treatment, but hope, relief, and dignity to those battling kidney disease. Our mission is to make quality healthcare accessible, sustainable, and compassionate for everyone in need. By bridging gaps in medical access, we want to ensure that no patient is left behind. Together, we can create a future where healthcare is a right, not a privilege.”
The collaboration between Aahwahan Foundation and Aptiv highlights the power of strategic corporate-NGO partnerships in addressing critical healthcare challenges. While Aptiv’s support provided essential resources, the foundation led the implementation, ensuring that the dialysis unit meets high standards of care and sustainability. Dr. Savitha C, Medical Superintendent & Professor at Vanivilas Hospital, Bangalore, said, “Being a government maternity hospital, we manage a high volume of high-risk pregnancies, often complicated by conditions like preeclampsia and acute kidney injury. The availability of an in-house dialysis unit is critical in such emergencies, ensuring timely, life-saving care for both mother and child. It also minimizes delays and risks associated with patient transfers. Importantly, this facility will enhance access to affordable renal care for the wider community we serve.”
By expanding access to dialysis services, this initiative not only strengthens public healthcare systems but also addresses a pressing need in chronic disease management. Patients who previously struggled to afford or reach such treatment now have a lifeline through the new unit. The project reflects Aahwahan Foundation’s ongoing commitment to creating inclusive healthcare solutions and improving patient outcomes in India. A female beneficiary, Malati K, said, “I have been managing my kidney condition throughout my pregnancy, but I could never afford treatment at big hospitals due to financial constraints. When I learned that Vani Vilas Hospital now has a dialysis unit, I felt a huge sense of relief and confidence. Knowing that I can get proper care close to home without worrying about costs has made me feel much more secure and satisfied with my treatment.”
With the inauguration of the 19th dialysis unit, Aahwahan Foundation continues to reinforce its position as a leading NGO for health-focused CSR, demonstrating that well-planned interventions can bring measurable and lasting benefits to underserved communities. Such initiatives play a crucial role in India’s journey toward equitable and accessible healthcare, ensuring that critical medical support reaches those who need it the most.
