Kokrajhar: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) demanded to increase in number of seats for admission to post graduate (PG) in Bodoland University and allow the students to write and submit Ph.D thesis in Bodo Language in the University.
A delegation team from the ABSU led by Assistant General Secretary Kwrwmdao Wary, Education Secretary Kastom Basumatary today meets Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University Prof Laishram Ladu Singh and apprises on the problems face by the students due to pandemic Covid19 situation. The ABSU leadership stated that many students are unable to go out to distant universities for pursuing post graduate studies and urged Bodoland University, which is the only University in the lower Assam and BTR region to make it convenient for more admission to post graduate in all departments by increasing the possible number of seats.
The student union also urged Bodoland University to make it convenient to allow the students to write and submit Ph.D thesis in Bodo Language across all disciplines in the University.
“The Bodo Language is one of the Eight Scheduled Language under the Constitution of India. There are many opportunities where the Bodo language can be given equal opportunities like that of Assamese in Assam. ABSU urged Bodoland University to make it convenient to write and submit Ph.D thesis in Bodo Language across all disciplines in the University. This would be of honour to the Bodo Language which has a long struggling history of self existence of this standard in the educational institutions, Education Secretary Kastom Basumatary said.
