Omlo, directed by debutant filmmaker Sonu Randeep Choudhury, has been officially selected for the DC South Asian Film Festival (DCSAFF), following its successful screening at the prestigious Cannes Film Market earlier this year.

The selection marks another international recognition for the social drama, which has been praised for its poignant storytelling and emotional depth. DCSAFF, known for celebrating South Asian voices in cinema, will showcase Omlo alongside a curated lineup of films from across the globe.

“It is an honor for Omlo to be selected at the DC South Asian Film Festival. Many remarkable films from around the world will be showcased there, and we are proud to be among them,” said Choudhury, who also serves as writer, producer, and actor in the film.

Omlo follows the story of a 7-year-old boy and his close bond with a camel, set against the backdrop of a patriarchal and abusive household. The film explores themes of generational trauma, gender-based violence, and the emotional endurance of women in conservative societies.

The cast includes Sambho Mahajan, Sonu Randeep Choudhury, Sonali Sharmistha, Deva Sharma, Mahesh Jilowa, and Hari Prasad Modi. The film was produced under the Hare Krishna Pictures banner by Neha Pandey, Rohit Makhija, Manish Goplani, and Choudhury, with Ajay Rathore, Arvind Dagur, and Yatin Rathore as co-producers.

Shot in Shree Dungargarh, Bikaner, the film incorporates a regional flavor through its setting and music, featuring compositions by Gazi Khan Barna and Bhuvan Ahuja, with lyrics written by Choudhury. The background score is composed by Devendra Bhome.

Premiering at the Cannes Film Market in May 2025, Omlo received international attention for its raw cinematic style, nuanced performances, and powerful social themes. Its inclusion in DCSAFF further cements its standing as one of the year’s most significant Indian independent films.
