Kokrajhar : Two journalists – Shankar Choudhury, Gossaigaon Correspondent, Dainik Agrodoot and adependent family member of Lt. Gabinda Nath, then Kokajhar correspondent, Amar Asom were on Tuesday presented cheques of Rs.10,000 and Rs.50,000 respectively under Journalists’ Medical Welfare Scheme during a function held in Kokajhar DC’s residence.
The scheme was launched by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Assam in 2012 under which ailing journalists and their dependent family members are entitled to get the benefit of the scheme to enable them to have proper medical treatment.
The beneficiaries collected the cheques from the Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar Parta Pratim Mazumdar in the presence of incharge District Information and Public Relations Officer Gagan Narzary, other media persons and family members of journalists.
The Deputy Commissioner, later, said that the present state Government was fully committed in the total health care of its people in the spirit of health for all. “The priority attention of the government is to provide the optimum health needs of the people in general and particularly to those people like journalists who are working consistently for the interest of the society.” he added.
He hoped that this small amount would be helpful for them for keeping themselves fit in their professional life.
