All-round development in Assam as per PM’s motto : CM

GUWAHATI : As part of the State Government’s initiative to strengthen the sports infrastructure of the state, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today laid the foundation stones of Chabua Sports Association Stadium and an indoor stadium at Chabua in Dibrugarh. Notably, the Chabua Sports Association Stadium is to be built under the signature project of 2018-19 for Rs 9.88 crore and Chabua indoor stadium would be built for Rs 2.33 crore from SOPD fund. Saying that the present state government has been working for the all-round development of the state following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s motto of sabka sath, sabka vikash, sabka viswas since 2016, Sonowal remarked that Congress party, which was in power for majority portion of the post-Independence period, weakened the society by resorting to divisive politics. On the other hand, the present state government has strived to strengthen the bond of unity among all sections of the society while working resolutely towards fulfilling the promises with which it came to power, he said.

The Chief Minister asserted that the youths of the state have been able to excel in various sectors and agriculture sector has seen tremendous growth as a result of the sincere and unprecedented efforts taken up by the present state government. He also highlighted the historic step of providing land pattas to indigenous landless people by the state government as a strong measure to sustain the indigenous people’s control over the state and safeguard their interests while underlining steps such as contsruion of six new bridges over Brahmaputra, setting up of national institutes like IARI at Gogamukh and AIIMS at Changsari, establishing NID at Jorhat etc. since Prime Minister Modi assumed power.

Sonowal also expressed confidence that the setting up of Chabua Sports Association Stadium and Chabua indoor stadium would greatly contribute in the rapid development of sports in the state and the entire region and establish Assam as the sports capital of the country. Union Minister of State for Food Processing Rameswar Teli, MLAs Chakradhar Gogoi, Teros Gowala, Binod Hazarika, Member Secretary of SLAC for Youth Welfare Lakhya Konwar, VC of Aniruddhadeb Sports University J.P.Verma were present on the occasion among others.
