Ambooi Rakhi murder case: All accused found guilty

Thiruvananthapuram: A Court here today found all accused in the Rakhi murder case guilty. Thiruvananthapuram Sixth Additional Sessions Judge K. Vishnu found all the three accused  guilty of the offence punishable under Section 302 of IPC.

Rakhimol (30), Daughter of Rajan, who runs a tea stall in Thirupuram Puthen Shop in Neyyattinkara was brutally killed by the accused by strangling and buried the dead body in the courtyard.

Akhil R Nair (24) S/o Rajappan Nair, Akhil’s brother Rahul R Nair (27) and their friend Adarsh Nair (23) S/o Surendran Nair residing at Adarsh Bhawan, Amboori Tattamuk were found guilty of murder and destruction of evidence.

As per the prosecution, on 21.6.2019 Rakhimol was brutally killed by the accused. Akhil, the first accused, who was working with Indian Army, as a driver, developed a relation with Rakhimol through telephone call. She was working in a private firm at Kalamassery and was a native of Poovar, Thiruvananthapuram. Later the first accused and Rakhimol came closer to each other. The first accused, Akhil promised to marry Rakhi.

In between Akhil developed intimacy with another woman and he tried to avoid Rakhimol. Later Akhil and the second lady decided to get married and he uploaded their photos in social media.

After knowing this, Rakhi threatened Akhil that she will spoil his marriage. This threat lead to the murder of Rakhi.  

On the day, Akhil called Rakhimol and wanted to show her his new home at Amboori. He took Rakhimol in a vehicle with Tamil Nadu registration. The other accused were waiting them at Amboori. The second accused Rahul R Nair was driving the vehicle towards Thattamukk from Amboori. During that drive, Akhil and Adarsh were strangled her to death by using the seat belt.

The accused jointly killed Rakhi and buried her nacked body with salt, in a pit, which was already prepared by the accused in the newly constructed house for Akhil in Thattamukk. Then Akhil moved to Ladakh where he worked, Adarsh and Rahul left for Guruvayur.

Rajan, Rakhi’s father had lodged a Man missing complaint at Poovar station. During the investigation, the police booked Adarsh and he confessed about the murder. Akhil and Rahul were arrested on the basis of the confession statement of Adarsh. The police found Rakhi’s body from Akhil’s house premises.

94 witnesses were examined by the prosecution. 92 evidences and 178 documents were presented by the prosecution in the Court. The defense examined the doctor who treated Adarsh as defense witness and they produced 15 documents in the Court.

Special Public Prosecutor P.P. Geeta Alappuzha and Public Prosecutor M. Salahudeen were appeared for the Prosecution.
