Apollo Homecare Expands Medical Equipment Footprint as India’s Homecare Market Heads Toward USD 2.4 Billion

India : Apollo Homecare has had a strong year in its medical equipment business. Equipment rentals nearly doubled year-on-year in FY26, and equipment sales grew nearly 140 percent over the same period. To put that in context, the year before saw rental growth of around 7 percent and sales growth of around 24 percent. Something has clearly changed, and it is not just the numbers.

What has changed is how Indian families are thinking about medical care after a hospital stay. Oxygen concentrators, CPAP machines, hospital beds, wheelchairs, equipment that was once almost exclusively the domain of hospitals is now being rented and purchased for home use in growing volumes. The growth in Apollo Homecare’s equipment business reflects this sentiment, as the respiratory category formed a bulk of the demand for the company. This is well supported by Apollo Homecare’s ability to execute specialised step-down care for patients being discharged from hospital ICUs into home. India’s homecare medical equipment market was valued at approximately USD 1.5 billion in 2025 and is on track to reach USD 2.4 billion by 2034, according to IMARC Group. Apollo Homecare’s growth this year sits squarely within that larger trend.

To meet the demand, the company has built out its sales and service presence across six major cities – Delhi NCR, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata, with pan-India delivery covering locations beyond those hubs. It has also upgraded its e-commerce platform to make the experience of choosing and procuring medical equipment seamless for families who are often navigating this for the first time. Customers can now compare renting versus buying, explore financing options, and get guidance from trained technicians and biomedical engineers, all in one place.

Vishal Lathwal, CEO, Apollo Homecare, said, “Most families end up in a peculiar situation at the time of hospital discharge or post a Doctor consultation. The tedious journey of navigating between products, providers and pricing. The decision is rushed given need and the options feel overwhelming. We want to change that. We partner with our patients and help make an informed choice starting with expert-backed counselling to choose the right product, flexibility of buying vs renting and which makes the most sense for them, financing the purchase if needed, doorstep installation and post purchase support.”

There is a practical case for both sides of this shift. For families, renting a piece of equipment for a short recovery period is considerably less expensive than an extended hospital stay. For longer-term needs, owning the equipment often works out more economically over time. For hospitals, having a reliable home care option for clinically stable patients means acute beds are available for patients who genuinely need them. It is a model that works for everyone when it is set up properly.

The awareness gap is still real though. Many patients do not know that renting a hospital-grade device for home use is even an option until they are standing at the discharge counter with a care plan in hand and no idea where to start. The industry has grown and become more competitive, but the knowledge has not always kept pace with the availability. That is the gap Apollo Homecare is working to close, through its wide product range, digital platform, service network, and a focus on helping customers make informed decisions rather than just transactions.
