ASCPCR chairperson concern over rise in rape and murder of girl child

Kokrajhar: Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) chairperson Sunita Changkakoti expresses serious concern over the rise in rape and murder of girl childin various part of the state, including Kokrajhar.

Changkakoti along with senior ASCPCR members and Child Welfare Committee, Kokrajhar today visited Abhiyakuthi village in Kokrajhar and meet the family members of the two minor girls who were found hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances on June 11 to take stock about the incident. 

Talking to Reporters, Changkakoti suspect the death of the two girls a pre-planned murder and demanded proper and thorough investigation into the case.

On rise in numbers of rape and murder of girl child in various part of the state, including Kokrajhar in recent times, she said it is really as matter of serious concern. She stated that there is need of proper investigation into every case and asked the police to be more alert while filing charge-sheets with no scope for any loopholes so that the culprits do not go scot-free. She also stressed the need of taking the child related cases in fast-track court so that the guilty get instance punishment.
