Assam: 18 people, including a soldier, were seriously injured in an attack by suspected Bangladeshi civilians

Police revealed that the district administration organized a program for the allocation of plots to around 30 self-help groups (SHGs) in Chowchighat area under Nadwar Revenue Circle for agricultural activities.However, when district administration officials were busy demarcating the allotted plots of land in the presence of local police, suddenly about 50/60 suspected illegal Bangladeshi residents in the area arrived with deadly weapons and attacked the people present there. . In the incident, 12 people, including the Jamguri Police Outpost incharge, were seriously injured. They were later rushed to a local hospital. Police resorted to firing to expel the miscreants, after which all the miscreants escaped from the area.On receiving the information, SP Mugdhajyoti Mahanta of Sonitpur and local MLA Padma Hazarika reached the spot and reviewed the situation. After hearing about the incident, many locals also reached the spot to retaliate.
