GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam has taken the initiative to provide an educational package to the students to continue their studies without hampering the existing COVID-19 situation. Assam Assembly Education Minister Ranuj Pegu made the revelation in a written reply to a question by Sichsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi today. Gogoi raised this question in view of students facing difficulty in combating their studies due to ‘digital divide’.

Through this educational package, district mission coordinators of Saraba Shiksha Mission will distribute self-educated equipment and exercise material to students every 15 days, Ranoj Pegu said. Pegu also said that course material is being made available through Doordarshan and Radio so that poor internet connectivity and lack of equipment do not deprive students of their daily studies.

At the same time, the Government of Assam has taken the initiative of “Home Visit” by teachers, school management committee and other teachers to primary and upper primary level students. He also said that with the help of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) Nishtha programme, the Government of Assam has trained 5,904 teachers on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the financial years 2019-20 and 2020-2021 and will continue to do so in the current financial year.
